Every 66 seconds in the U.S. someone develops Alzheimer’s Disease. By the middle of this century, it's predicted someone will develop Alzheimer's every 33 seconds. An estimated 5.5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease. The prevalence of this insidious disease is growing. It's currently the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S., and two-thirds of those afflicted with Alzheimer's are women (about 3.3 million).
More than just dementia, Alzheimer's is a progressive disease that affects thoughts, memories, and language. Everyday activities suddenly become difficult to perform for those who have it.
